Replacing noisy/uncomfortable landrover & my 3rd R. This is a very early factory fit 300Tdi Softdash to SE specification......

The OJH number indicates press vehicle. In about 2000 it received full Zeibart underbody treatment. I chose this particular one as it had not had any welding done to the underside although the body. I have a particular dislike to modern electronics & other such complications so.

All plastic trim was removed from sills/wheelarches; rust starting on outer corners of footwells & bottoms of some A/B posts + inner wing beneath ABS unit + one body mount: these areas thoroughly cleaned, carefully cut out & new metal welded in. Any surface rust removed elsewhere & the whole lot given 2 gallons Waxoil. This was all done in a dry & heated workshop.

In addition, the vehicle was already converted to coil springs. I found the auto box useless for towing & very thirsty.

I therefore changed this to a manual R380 box from a Discovery but retained the correct R. I removed all the [troublesome] ABS breaking system & replaced with standard spec.

Servo system again from the Disco. Is to SE specification internally [all wood & leather] but to basic R. Mechanically, & has been 100% reliable on the road since; including 2 x continental trips of 2 1/2. Total Mileage to date 180,000 ish.

A new Allisport intercooler was fitted along with some careful tuning of the Bosch pump, giving a. All suspension Polybushed + Armstrong I think? Time has moved on & we now have a [Landrover based] campervan & the R. Little used this last year. In addition gremlins are setting in; last year the seat/mirrors ECU died [seat memory function battery leaked onto circuit board] basic seat function now operated by relays [I understand that there is a 4 relay conversion available that does everything except memory]. Currently the central locking [by key], windows, sunroof all work as they should. I have never tried such fancy bits as heated screen/mirrors/headlight washers etc. No interest to me at all! Aircon works but will need re-charging this year.

Uses no oil/water between servicing. Has always been kept under cover in my ownership, I do all my own work on it. The interior is still pretty good, no tears to seats, only slight sagging of head lining, all carpets stay dry even in heavy rain. Externally it is tatty, top tailgate is shot, lower has 2 scabby bits but otherwise works well; rear quarter panels are going beside the light units [I have a pair of brand new, genuine factory, quarter panels available by seperate negotiation], drivers door has crease where the wind caught it while I was reversing trailer.

The doors & bonnet are almost rust free. Photo's show it all, a few spares & huge history file included. MOT is to end of October; any inspection/trial welcome, South Molton, North Devon, see number. All in all a remarkably origional [except mechanics] & unmolested/re-sprayed etc. Looking for a new, caring, owner.
