The PVT disc uses, in its ventilation chamber, pillars instead of vanes. Disc cooling capacity is enhanced by an extra 40% and therefore provides more resistance against thermal cracking. Brembo Prime-Line High Carbon, painted Brake Discs with PVT. STRENGTHS THAT DISTINGUISH THE RANGE. Born from the experience of racing and from the collaboration with car makers.Research and development, laboratory tests and road tests, production and distribution. The control of the entire production cycle allows Brembo to offer a range of brake discs with outstanding performance levels, reliability, durability and comfort in all conditions of use. The Brembo brake disc is synonymous with reliability. The Brembo brake disc with special UV paint treatment guarantees superior corrosion resistance for the product, thanks to the protective coating on the outer edges and on the disc hub. The UV paint not only gives the disc a clean, shiny appearance but is also beneficial for the environment as the water-based UV paint treatment does not require the use of chemical solvents and is a low energy consumption process.
Metallised effect conferring a shiny, clean look to the disc. More than 600 part numbers, covering the majority of the vehicles on European roads. Corrosion, humidity and temperature resistance. The resistance is superior to any other products on the market. Corrosion resistance is proven by tests in a salt spray chamber. The position of the marking allows mechanics to read of the minimum thickness for replacement easily.Ready for installation and practical to assemble. Low environmental impact and excellent quality allow the UV-coated brake disc range to establish an alternative benchmark to the original product. The unique metal finish ensures an eye-catching impact. The perfect result of Brembo's concept of offering aftermarket products developed with the same parameters as the original equipment, High Carbon (HC) discs ensure comfort and low noise as the result of their high damping coefficient. This results from Brembo technology and the complete control of production in the company's foundries allowing the variation of the chemical composition of cast iron by increasing the percentage of carbon in High Carbon (HC) discs.
High Carbon (HC) discs are used for more than 1000 part numbers for cars and trucks. Better cooling and resistance to thermal cracking. The Brembo patent for PVT ventilated brake discs improves the current design by using pillars instead of vanes in the ventilation chamber. The system improves the heat dissipation capacity and increases resistance to thermal cracks by more than 40%. BRAKE DISCS WITH VANE VS PILLAR VENTILATION: THE DIFFERENCES.
The thermal stresses in a brake disc are extremely intense; in fact, all the energy of the vehicle is transformed into heat, which is generated in the disc/pad interface causing a considerable rise in the local temprrature. Depending on the varying heat conductivity of the disc cast iron and the brake pad friction material, in the majority of cases, more than 80% of the heat generated is absorbed by the brake disc.
So cooling the brake disc is vital for the braking system to function properly. This occurs through air circulation due to the vehicle motion, but most of the movement of air is induced by the revolution of the disc itself. Depending on the quantity of heat to be dissipated, appropriate solutions need to be implemented to guarantee correct brake operation. These ensure improved cooling compared to solid discs, which are therefore used mostly on the rear axle of medium-sized cars or on the front axle of compact and city cars. A few years ago, Brembo patented its PVT (Pillar Venting Technology) which, thanks to the shape and distribution of the pillars, manages to create air circulation inside the ventilation chamber, which allows for greater heat removal; what's more, the position of the pillars is arranged in such a way as to create a good barrier against the formation and propagation of cracks. Since the Nineties, this type of technology has undergone constant developments, improving in particular the performance in its application to heavy vehicles and vehicles subjected to significant thermal stresses. What improvements does PVT ventilation offer compared to conventional ventilation? The high temperatures that are developed during braking lead to disc wear over time, causing reduced braking performance and excessive brake pad consumption. Thanks to an enhanced cooling system, PVT ventilation increases resistance to thermal cracks by more than 40%, consequently reducing wear and prolonging the average life of brake discs and pads.
Brembo has continued to improve the quality of its PVT vented discs over time, implementing the T Pillar and Star Pillar patents for the truck market. The T Pillar solution avoid particles infiltrating the ventilation chamber of truck brake discs, while the Star Pillar solution further enhances resistance to thermal cracks. Thanks also to the know-how acquired during the development of these patents, it was possible to create the PVT Plus system dedicated to the truck market, as well as to the automotive market, in the premium saloon and high-performance car segments. What does the PVT Plus solution entail? The PVT Plus ventilation solution further improves ventilation compared to previous systems, guaranteeing a further increase in durability of brake pads and discs. The special cross shape of the ventilation pillars, and their layout, provides 30% more resistance to thermal cracking, while also offering significant weight reduction of the disc itself, by up to 10%. This means several advantages, not just during braking, but also on the overall performance of the vehicle. What does this mean in terms of driving safety? To guarantee superior safety performance levels in every braking system, the new PVT Plus ventilation system envisages different geometries for each brake disc, designed specifically with the target vehicle's specifications in mind. What about support and maintenance? In the case of brake discs with curved vanes and directed ventilation, which are handed, the use of the PVT Plus solution allows both discs to be replaced with a single part number which, considering the superior performance levels, guarantees equal if not better performance than brake discs with directed vanes. This means greater ease of assembly and spare parts management. Compatible with the following OEM references. LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER IV (L405) 2.0 P400e Hybrid 4x4.
