It precisely measures the amount of Oxygen present in the exhaust gases and reports its findings to the ECU (Electronic control unit). The ECU Uses this information to adjust the fuel injection system to obtain the maximum fuel efficiency while keeping the exhaust emissions at a safe level. Since early 1980's NGK have pioneered the research in Lambda Sensor technology.
