Most of which were rusty or out of my price range so I cast my net further afield. Apparently a farmer friend of his bought the car from new to use on high days and holidays. When he left his wife she assumed hed taken the car with him.
Some years later whilst she was out riding on her 6000 acre farm she came across the car hidden in a remote building. She contacted her friend, they guy I bought the car from, knowing he was a Land Rover /Range Rover affectionardo and gave him first refusal on the car. Not sure how much of the story is true but I have the details of both owners if any purchaser would like to verify this. The car is an Australian built.
Its had a quality paint work re-spayed. In its original Satin Green. This was due to sun-bleaching of the lacquer and the odd mark.I have photos of the original bodywork condition. This was one of only two colours available on this special order model along with all the bells and whistles. It has air con as standard (not sure if this is working to its potential so I suspect it may need re-gassing) Apart from a little surface rust underneath , I havent used it enough to warrant any under-body waxoiling or had the desire, but its obvious what the underbody condition is rather than it being covered in under-seal, the original paint is still intact under the wheel arches.
The body work is magnificent, the paint work is very good throughout. The interor has been re-trimed with new leather and looks fantastic and brand new along with new carpets and headlining. Its just a nice place to be with the panoramic view over the large bonnet and the smell of new leather. The dash is un-molested with all the factory fitted clocks dials and warning lights working as they should.
Under the bonnet looks extreamly good with no leaks or corrosion. All the fluids are clean and on their marks. You know what they say about these cars... Thougherly, then when youve finished.. Youll be impressed at the condition.
It starts first turn and drives like new although having only four speeds is a little tiring when you are used to todays 6 speed cars Or eight as in my Disco! Thats how they made them. The brakes have all been restored and the wheels refurbished with 5 brand new tyres. The radio is the original I think, it works but is so quiet you can hardly hear it and the speakers are the ugliest Ive ever seen, which is possible the only part of the car that requires improvement. Ive had numerous CRRs over the years, and even bought one new in 1991, all of which have needed constant attention but this one is the best Ive ever had.
This car is hard to fault, it needs nothing and Im using it as often as I can, on rotation with my other classics. In value recently its a worthy investment. I welcome any inspection or test drive but please no offers, I dont need to sell but have, I think priced it fairly and you would have to look long and hard to find another comparable car for this price.
