I bought this in 2010 from the original owner. (it passed its mot btw). I recommissioned it and drove it off and on for a few years. At 077000 miles (2013/14) I removed the engine and fully rebuilt with all new big end and main bearings, camshaft, rings etc. Gearbox also fully recommissioned at the same time.
4 x new General A/T 2 tyres in 235/70-16. Alloys shot blasted and repainted. Full Rimmer Brothers stainless steel exhaust from the original manifolds back fitted. Took off the road again in 2015 as it needed some structural TLC, and put on hold until late 2019. Near side rear outer wheel arch.
Near side rear lower forwards wheel arch. Near side rear Mud flap support panel.Near side rear mud flap. Near side lower A/B pillars.
Off side rear outer wheel arch. Off side rear lower forwards wheel arch. Off side rear Mud flap support panel. Off side rear mud flap. Off side lower A/B pillars.
5 x brake flexi-hoses replaced. Copper brake lines all round. Basically every previous MOT going back to its 1st in 85 except the years it was off the road. Original 3528cc Rover V8 engine. Original LT95 4 speed gearbox with hi/lo transfer box.81,804 original documented miles. (may go up slightly, as I enjoy a ride out).
Early 4 door in Vogue Blue colour scheme. Shares some 2-door parts such as the 4 speed transmission, seats, interior, headliner, dash configuration. Jacking and crank handle equipment in the back. Front door locks located on door skin, not handles.
Rare body transitional period between 2/4 door models. This is a survivor vehicle in the sense that it still retains its original paint and bodywork (has a tail to tell), original interior except the headlining. Dashboard is unmolested, no stupid extra accessories drilled in anywhere.
Chassis never welded neither does it need welding. All works carried out to an exceptional high standard. Obviously there are age related marks on the body and some corrosion on the door bottoms.
The worst being the drivers door - due to the waist seal needing replacing. There is currently no aftermarket 4 door waist seals in production or available that incorporate the quarter light.....If there was, Id have replaced them. The original radio no longer functions, but that never bothered me because I enjoy the sound of the engine anyway. When I took this for its MOT In December 2020 after being off the road for 5 years And having all the structural work completed, the MOT tester commented on how good the condition of the underside was. It subsequently passed with no advisories or emissions issues. A solid investment vehicle, that wears its original Patina well and has a lot of character.
Please bear in mind that this is a 40 year old car and is mostly original but in exceptionally well maintained condition with a ton of receipts and history.
